The season officially starts mid December and ends mid April.

January and February are the peak of the season and its when most whales are around.

In all time slots, it’s possible to see whales or not see them at all.
There isn’t one time that’s better than another; it mainly depends on the kind of experience you want to have.
Sunrise is a calmer and more relaxed experience. The sea is usually calmer as well, there are fewer boats, and almost no one is doing whale watching at that hour. Whales also tend to be more relaxed; they may surface more slowly, and it can take us longer to find them. The landscapes and colors are very beautiful, making it a great time for photos.
Midday is usually sunnier and warmer. This is the time with the most maritime traffic, and it’s difficult to have moments without seeing or hearing another boat. The sea often looks bluer and clearer, which is very beautiful. There is usually more activity and energy overall during this time. Visibility can be better thanks to the strong light, and it may be easier to spot animals.
Sunset is very similar to sunrise, except that it can sometimes be windier and there may be more swell but not always, and sometimes sunrise is even windier. The sky colors are often the most incredible, especially during the winter season, and it’s also a great time for photos. It’s usually the best time to use the hydrophone and potentially hear the whales singing.

Whales are WILD animals so we cannot control them and we cannot ensure one hour in the day that is better, in our experience we have seen them in the sunrise, sunset and all ours between that.
Is a matter of luck and patience.
- 05
It depends on the time of year and the season.
During the winter months, the whales we see most frequently in the Los Cabos area are humpback whales. This region is their wintering and breeding ground, where they stay to mate, give birth, and nurse their calves. Gray whales and blue whales can also be seen during winter and early spring, but these sightings are more occasional.
Other cetaceans such as fin whales, Bryde’s whales, sperm whales, pilot whales, false killer whales, orcas, and several species of dolphins may be seen as well, although they are less common and more unpredictable.
Additional marine life can be observed year-round, including sea lions, sea turtles, rays, sharks, frigate birds, pelicans, and cormorants.
- 06
We are talking about wildlife and nature, we cannot control them and we cannot guarantee sightings. We do our best to find animals based on our years of experience.
We can guarantee something unique on each trip, a day in the ocean is always a good day. You will surely leave with a lot of information about the marine life of the region.
